Tips For Success - Interview

If you get nervous and tongue tied at interviews, the following article could help you prepare for your next interview congratulations ! You've got that all-important interview! It's understandable that you'll be nervous, but don't worry - the tips below will help you out.

Face-to-face interview

These can take place with one or many interviewers present. Make sure that you find out in advance how many people will be in the room. Sometimes you won't always be told in advance.

Before the interview

DO

  1. Research into the company. It'll look good if you ask them questions as well as answering them.
  2. Take a copy of your CV with you.
  3. Find out if you're expected to take any tests.
  4. Plan your responses
  5. Make a list of questions to ask about the role. Make sure that you know exactly where you are going, what time to arrive and who you are going to see. Check out roads and train routes in advance to allow yourself plenty of time.

Dress-up appropriately.

  1. Plan ahead. Prepare thoroughly! Make sure that you have all the relevant information with you - including your CV and pen and paper.
  2. Find a room where you are not likely to be interrupted.
  3. Have a glass of water handy in case your mouth dries up!
  4. Switch off your mobile phone if you're taking the call on a landline. You don't want your mobile ringing half-way through the interview.

DON'T

  1. Leave preparation to the last minute.
  2. Panic if you get lost - keep calm, and call the company to let them know.
  3. At the interview

DO

  1. Arrive at least 10 minutes early.
  2. Maintain a good posture - body language is everything!

DON'T

  1. Arrive late without an explanation.
  2. Avoid eye contact.
  3. Speak negatively about your current/previous employer.
  4. Forget to thank the interviewer for their time.

After Interview

If you were sent by an agency, actively seek feedback from them. If the feedback is negative, you can use this to improve for your next interview. If you applied for the job independently, the interviewer will probably have given you a time-frame in which to expect a decision. If you don't hear anything back, make a point of calling to ask for their feedback.

Telephone Interview

  1. Some companies may wish to have a telephone interview before they meet you in person.
  2. You will be told in advance the nature of the interview (technical, general chat etc).

During the interview

DO

  1. Listen to and answer each question carefully.
  2. Make notes and tape-record if you wish.
  3. Give short and precise answers.
  4. Ask the interviewer any questions you may have.
  5. Give a strong finish to strengthen your chances of a face-to-face interview.

DON'T

  1. Interrupt the interviewer.
  2. Pause for too long.
  3. Make any loud noises.
  4. Try and do anything else while talking!
  5. The second interview

If your first interview was successful then you may be called back for a second one. The people present in the second interview will vary depending on who interviewed you first time around. It could be a manager higher up the chain, or it could be someone from HR. Whoever it is, you'll need to be prepared to answer tougher questions.

Remember that a second interview is not necessarily a definite indication that you have secured the job - it's another chance to impress.

Searching For A Job In 2009

2008 had not been very successful for workers around the world. Many well-qualified professionals have lost their jobs. Layoffs are just a part of our daily life. Moreover, experts say that it will take another two years for the situations to get back to normal.

People are scared to join new companies, as they do not feel very confident about the financial condition; especially when someone is joining the lower end of the ladder. As a new recruit, they do not have enough information on the internal mechanism of the company. The situation is worst for the middle tier professionals as they have much more at stake than a fresh candidate does.

So, how is the situation now? What will you do? Will you look for a new job or stay in the current company? Do you need to start looking for other income sources to stay well prepared for adverse situations?

What normally happens during a layoff? Unless the situation is too bad, companies mainly look for people who are not performing well or they look for employees who are not directly associated with the revenue generation frame – the extras. We also do the same thing when our budget is tight – we look for cheaper alternatives. For example, if the budget is tight, we will look to meet our essential needs rather than going out in an expensive vacation.

To avoid such situations, you must be a good performer in your department. There is no alternative to this. In addition, this is not just for the tough period. If you want to walk up in the corporate ladder, you must be a good performer throughout the time.

We often see that, to fight with tight conditions, companies outsource some operations or department. What do you do when you are the unlucky person to belong to that department of the company? Once the department is moving, you do not have much option left but to start searching for greener pastures. However, as a thumb rule, always try to go close to the moneymaking sectors of a company. If you are directly contributing to revenue generation model of a company, there are less chances for you to be laid off. However, always remember that constant performance is the key.

If you are planning for a job search, it is time to think twice before you leap. You must do enough research to find out the stability of the company. Apart from that, also find out how your job profile is going to add to the business model of the company. It is always better to stay off from a startup company at this moment, unless you find enough positive reasons to join them. You should look for stability rather than going out for lucrative offers or packages. However, it all depends on your risk taking capabilities and available options.

In addition, there is nothing like a second stream of income if you want to keep things moving. However, many companies do not permit investing time or money in other businesses or working as a freelancer. Thus, before you start anything be sure about reading the terms and conditions once again. Moreover, do not do anything that may harm your performance in the current company.

The Leader (2)

Year 2008 is the year that has most important mean because it’s coincided with the exact 10 years of reformation and 100 years of national rising.

Two political events that influence enough for the process of Indonesian people, This event has formed national awareness for Indonesian peoples and at the time also asserted back the collective goal of this nation however 10 years reformation has been proceeded we’ve not yet found the transformation which is basic especially that connected with economical development, social and political

Learning from experience

For this whole time the governance and leadership was selected from electoral that we believe it is democratic enough, how ever it was come from capital fraction that supported from external funds. The winning is planned with a democratic design system that oligarchic that won’t let the possibility of the new progressive power appearance, they take part in giving logistic aid, political support and propaganda to the nation leader to have the authority, so it is very national when someone can be a leader he left his campaign promises for behind and getting closer with outside importance that play role for the back ground of his winning.

So it’s not close the change of possibility that will decrease the number of neutral participant for next general election that public skepticism can we see trough by inclination of people trust with political party and house of representatives that more and more drop off because they’re marked as a delegation that more oligarchy, corrupt, un ethical and opportunist.

And how is the ideal leader of Indonesia?

Ideal leader for Indonesia, is a leader that has a vision, ability, and capability of thinking strategically and able to do his strategy by partnering every one at one relation to respect and honor each other, this land of leadership is kind that accordance with social.

I See our nation really need a strong figure – leader, a leader that not only has a criteria of leadership generally or fulfilled formal condition, as mentions ion the law and regulation but, more than that.

The main thing he must patriotism a leader that have a courage to sacrifice own life, a hero, visionary, honest for the sake of peoples, nation and state importance.

A leader that able and have a courage to face, deal and solve all of the nation problem according with basic valve of country and constitution.

A leader that obey with constitution also has and capable to defend his massive vision without been distorted or influenced with issue and pressure of any certain group.

A leadership is a character that given by god

A leader is not come only from the high of same one educational level, because it is not impossible if someone not has a high educational status but has the high leadership skill.

However it limited on the comprehension of formal science, a leadership not also can be learned or born alone in someone self because a character needs development.

The Leader

In a very short time later, our country would held 2009 general election from the data I collect, our country have 87 parties that have been registered on department of law an human right and for the next 2009 general election 34 parties will complete to get the leadership chairs.

Our question…

Would they’ll be a qualify leader that can make a brand new change and transformation?...or…
They’ll only think for their own benefit?

Words without prove, promise without commitment and enticing with a temporary development

What should an ideal leader must have ?
(it’s just for electing a good leader, but also to develop our skill and potential to be an ideal leader)

Generally an ideal leader must have from my opinion:

  1. Vision : Good leader create a vision, a picture of the future of where they want to take their leadership
  2. Inspiration : Once a vision is established, great leaders can inspire everyone in their leadership
  3. Strategy : Strategic leaders are clear and directly face the strengths and weaknesses of their own leadership as well as their external opportunities and threats, they think in terms of leverage
  4. Tactic : Good leaders are bottom line oriented and extraordinarily committed to result, they thrive on facts, figures, numbers and data
  5. Focus : once vision and mission are established, good leaders achieve what they set out to do before launching new initiatives
  6. Decisive : Sometimes shooting from the hip, good leaders can make decisions quickly often with an incomplete data or worst situation
  7. Ethical : Good leaders are direct and straight forward, they set clear performance expectations and hold people accountable this requires being direct and truthful, which can be difficult but…more often than not…is natural for the principle based leader. Good leaders know it’s hard to beat the truth and stay in their commitment

There are a few things in my opinion, what criteria of an ideal leader should have

First : A qualify leader are aware of their particular talents and strengths and require that there actions be consistent with their most deeply felt values and believe, have the capacity to put themselves in another persons place and have the knowledge skills and experience required to complete transformation.

Second : A leader must provide enough flexibility to make changes, they capture the lessons learned from successful models emerging elsewhere and they can use limited resources creatively to affect change

Third : A leader must listen but also initiate, proactive and pragmatic problem solver, they learn from failure, understanding the limitations of their work

Fourth : A leader must admit mistakes and they don’t hesitate to ask for advice, they show a commitment to practical action.

And what criteria should our future country leaders have?

According to me, an ideal leader should not have any selfish interest and specific agenda of his own, he should work towards the welfare of the people by whom he is chosen to represent them.
Leader should be honest whit a focus on good government and ensuring a non corrupt government, he should providing his citizens with good infrastructure education and health facilities also for the future requirements of the country.

Finally an ideal leader that our country need is someone that in any circumstance he should not be elected based on his fame money, status or campaigns with celebrities instead, it must be based on what he has done for the people, his academic qualification and his vision for the country
